It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible! This is an ex-forum!
While we're leaving the site up to keep all that happened here, this site is dead. We have moved! We're still going, with a number of changes, at a new location: enerarpg.proboards.com
This is Enera, a Pokémon roleplay where everyone has a dæmon like in the His Dark Materials Series.
After a long period of inactivity, we are back in action! Some major changes are being made right now, so bear with us as we sort out how the site will work, the setting and an all-new plot!
I've been working on a lot of stuff for the site. The new winter skin exists now! I'll be updating it with new images and possibly a different background, too ~Birdy
The Pokédex is slowly being updated. I've started working on profiles for all the NPCs as well, but pictures of them won't go up until my tablet stops having tantrums every time I open Photoshop. Oh, and I can't draw, that might be an issue. I'm working on a format for NPC PCs too, so that'll happen soon.
With the release of X and Y last month, the new Pokémon will be appearing around Enera now. I just need to update all the gym leaders and routes and stuff.
Remember to check out the X and Y giveaway!
Something is stirring in the North. Panserbørne, the great sentient armoured bears, are growing restless. Witches have been affected too by this mystery problem, and have been seen much further south than normal. One or two sightings have even been claimed in the northern most reached of Enera, but that can't be true, right? Witches are tough and hard to spook, so surely nothing would drive them out of their homes in the North?

The nights are drawing in, and the days grow colder, the leaves not quite ready to change colour yet. Cloudy days are common, the wind picking up. It is not cold yet, but rain is becoming more common. Pokémon are starting to prepare for the winter.
Av slipped through the town, his thick cloak, thrown back off his shoulders though it was, drawing stares from the inhabitants. Myko clung to his shoulder in one of her favourite forms, that of a Quilava. Av's hood was up, in order to disguise what he was, and to keep the sun out of his eyes. It was for this same purpose that his long, thick tail was hidden amidst the folds of his cloak, although the red markings around his eyes, and the eyes themselves, were much more difficult to disguise. "Here it is," he murmured, stepping up to the door and raising a hand to knock. Instead, the door swung open on him, and actually smacked him in the face. He fell down with a loud thud, his tail coming out from beneath his cloak, and the hood falling off his head, revealing the fins that he had hidden beneath it. "Ow!" he managed, as Myko, thrown off his shoulder by the impact, quickly zipped back to his side, and scrambled back up onto his shoulder.
The Professor hummed as he stacked boxes ontop of one another, going about his daily work. Telepa was perched on a nearby stack of books, making faint 'hoo' noises in time with Professor Pine's humming. After many a humming session while organizing things, the two were very much in sync; this made up for the fact that Pine's tune occasionally slipped out of key. He heard a slight scraping on the sidewalk outside. A new Trainer, perhaps? He looked to Telepa; she had heard it too, and nodded to him. ~Someone's here, eh? Let's go and take care of them.~
Quickly, he jogged to the door, Telepa flapping at his side, and threw it open with his customary welcoming smile. There was a smacking noise and a thud, along with a loud, "Ow!" but no Trainer. The somewhat dazed Professor was confused for a moment--then as understanding overtook him his jaw dropped with shock. "Oh no, I'm so sorry!" He pulled the door back and stepped around it, offering the poor guy a hand back up. The fins, eye markings, and tail were a bit jarring, but there was really no reaction now, not after he had seen so many Pokemorphs. "I guess you were here for your first Pokemon?"
"Yeah," Av said with a groan, taking Pine's hand and standing up, "That's why I'm here, Professor Pine. I'm sorry if I'm inconveniencing you in any way." Myko sniffed curiously at Telepa from her position on Av's shoulder.
Av rubbed at his eyes, and then opened them, looking Pine in the eye, before flicking his gaze away; his crystalline eyes were more than a little disturbing in appearance, even if they did convey his emotions quite well. "My name is Avartiath Drakenguard," he introduced himself, "and this is my Daemon, Myko." "A pleasure," Myko said, as her form wavered slightly; for a moment, she had turned the colour of a Bagon, before returning to normal. "I am honoured to finally make your acquaintance," Av continued, restlessly shifting in his cloak, "But I would feel better inside. The stares are starting to get unsettling."
Telepa politely extended her beak back towards Myko, giving the other daemon a slight sniff of sorts. She then turned her attention back to Av, speaking before Pine could. ~I'm Telepa, and my human is Professor Pine. Welcome to the Enera Lab,~ she said, knowing that either Av would know as a Pokemorph, or Myko could translate for him. Pine was a little surprised by the sudden flash of different color in Myko, but he didn't mention it. Instead, he reopened the door, the cooler air from the air-conditioned lab washing out and making Av's cloak ripple. Pine was about to say "What stares? There arn't any people," when he noticed that the various PC Pokemon were leaning up against the side of the fence, regarding Av with wide eyes. Pokemorphs were only uncommon, but a the morph of a more powerful Pokemon like Salamence was rarer, especially with so many features of the Pokemon. "Sure," replied the Professor, blinking and then leading Av and his daemon into the lab. "Sorry about that...well, here's the big question: know what Pokemon you want for a starter?"
"That... is a good question," Av said, stepping inside and looking sheepish, "I've put a lot of thought into what sort of Pokemon I want and frankly, I just can't decide. I really like Pokemon as a whole, not just specific types or anything. But I think I'll need something that can stand up to travelling; I plan on doing a lot of that. It's good to stretch my legs like this after six years in that biodome. But there, I had... my..." He trailed off, looking uncomfortable. His lip was sucked in, and he looked away, wondering if he should show the Professor the scars or not. He thought better of it almost immediately; it might be hot outside, but the air in here was cold enough to be most uncomfortable should he take his shirt off. "Well, I'll need to see some Pokemon before I can decide," he said, brushing at his sleeve in a slightly embarrassed manner. Myko sat on her human's shoulder; she had no need to translate what Telepa was saying; Av was perfectly fluent in Pokespeech, partialy from his mixed DNA, but largely from the fact that he had been around it so much in the biodome with the other 'morphs.
Pine noticed the word 'biodome' and the uncomfortable look on Av's face, but didn't mention it. After all, it wasn't his place to pry into new trainers' pasts; he could only hope that they could overcome them on their journey, with their Pokemon. "There are quite a lot of Pokemon, unfortunately," he said apologetically, "And most of them are fit for travelling." He walked over to a cupboard and shuffled through it before getting out a book of pictures and basic information on all the different Pokemon listed in the Pokedex, grunting a little due to the weight as he picked it up to place on the table in front of Av. "Perhaps you could try looking through this and seeing what you like? Also, do you know yet if you'd like to be a Trainer, Coordinator, Breeder? I could give you some suggestions based on what career you're thinking of, if you'd like."
"I'm going to be a Trainer," Av said straight away, eyebrows shooting up at the sight of the massive book. This accentuated his bizarre eye colouration. He looked at the book, and shrugged. "I've already had a look at this," he said, sounding embarrassed, "It's part of why I've found it so hard to choose." He sighed, and leaned back onto his heels, "I'm sorry I'm giving you so much trouble."
Pine sighed, raising his eyebrows a bit. ”Well, I’m afraid you’re going to have to narrow down the choices a bit in some way or another,” he said. ”There’s no way I can fit all my starters in this room!” But he paused, and thought for a second. ”I suppose that if you’re aiming to be a Trainer, you’ll be best off with something that has a good moveset. The Enera starters fit your requirements quite well,” he said, taking out a scroll with the pictures of Tigrily, Flarepup, and Beavern. ”Any of these three fit your fancy?” As this all happened, Telepa alighted on a nearby couch, nodding to herself as she tried to gauge what Pokemon Av might like.
"Yeah, Tigrily and Flarepup seem the better of the two," Av replied immediately, "I'm good at swimming; it was one of the few leisure activities I had available to me back in that place, and I'd prefer to find my own Water-type, rather than start out with them." He paused for a second, considering, then continued. "Fire-types can be hard to find in the wild. I guess I could go for one of them as my Starter." A moment's pause, and he glanced at the door. "I've also heard about the Spirit and Soul Pokemon," he whispered to Pine, seeming nervous about even bringing it up.
The Professor smiled slightly as Av narrowed his choice down pretty fast once given three options. ”Flarepup it is—“ he began, but he was both interrupted and stopped in midstride to the back of the lab by the sky dragon-Pokemorph’s next words. Telepa immediately let out a somewhat disturbed hoot, and Pine’s jovial mood dropped a couple notches. He turned and regarded Av suspiciously for a moment with a frown. Could he possibly be a Tsuasan in disguise? Then Pine sighed, running his hand through his hair. What would he do if he began to mistrust the new trainers, coming trustingly to him to receive one of their most important companions? The new Trainers, Breeders, Coordinators, and Rangers were like Enera’s lifeblood. He couldn’t start to doubt them now.
Shaking his head, Professor Pine grinned and waved his hand in apology. ”I’m sorry; you startled me there. There’s nothing wrong with being genuinely curious,” he said, although he was reminding himself this as much as Av. ”Unfortunately, the Spirit and Soul research has been going slowly, and I’m afraid I can’t predict how those Pokemon may act in the future, as it probably depends on Team Tsuasa’s actions as well as the secrets in the Eneran ruins. I must apologize, but they are not available as starters.” Then Pine rubbed his chin, considering. ”Well, judging how things are going right now, there’s a high chance you’ll see one somewhere else on your journey, being used by some shady or heroic character, or maybe on in the wild. Anyway, that’s how things stand.” A pause, then, ”Would you still like to see the Flarepups?”
Ooc:// Yo, Birdy, if there’s anything I should change about Pine’s response, let me know.
"Flarepups and other fire-types," Av agreed, nodding. His fins, made primarily of cartilage, flexed with the motion, although only slightly. He paused for a second, and continued. "I'm sorry about startling you with that question," he continued, contrite, "It's just, I like the idea of the Soul Pokemon... if they're the one's that are protective, as I seem to remember. Maybe I'll see one out in the wild someday." Myko nodded, but remained silent; there was nothing more to add to that.
(Short post is short. Can't think of much to say.)
ooc// Rin, Pine's reaction is fine. I'm hardly just gonna suddenly let people have Soul and Spirit Pokémon, since they do have special characteristics no-one's seen yet, and it's not as if something like having them be like normally caught Pokémon would be possible, let alone happen so quietly without any plot events. Just a little thanks to Rin and hint to everyone there.
Ooc:// Yay, awesome, thanks Birdy. n_n I can’t deny that I’m excited for the Spirit and Soul Pokemon too, muahaha.
Ic:// Pine smiled to himself as he went behind the bookshelf that obscured most of the lab from view, gathering the Pokemon from the drawers. ”Yes, the protective and kind nature of the Soul Pokemon are appealing. I’m sure you’ll see one on your journey someday.” he nodded, coming back with the Pokeballs. ”Now, I’m sorry but it seems that we’re running low on our stock of Pokemon this week, so this is what I’ve got in the way of Fire-types.” Stepping back, he released the Pokemon onto the floor for Av to see.
Five Pokemon appeared on the Lab floor. A Flarepup, Ponyta, Torkoal, Houndour, and a Numel with a glimmering tan colored coat; a shiny. The Flarepup sat up curiously and shook itself off, standing and regarding Av with alert eyes. It was clearly a strong, solid Pokemon, both good for fighting and traveling. The Ponyta cantered up to Av as well, although as it realized what kind of Pokemorph he was, it shied away a bit, moving its neck from side to side nervously, wondering if it should come closer for a pat or not. The Houndour stayed where it was, regarding Av with narrowed, suspicious eyes, lips curling back to form a light growl. The Torkoal muttered, "Koal," surprised to find itself outside of its Pokeball--after all, Torkoal wasn't a usually called-for starter. Finally, the shiny Numel simply sat there, closing its eyes and then rolling lazily into a patch of sunlight. Pine said apologetically, ”Again, I’m sorry we have such a low stock. If none of these fit your fancy, just say so and I’ll try some random ones.”
Av couldn't help laughing as the shiny Numel simply rolled over into the sunlight.
"The Flarepup is great," he said, "But I would like a little more choice as to the personalities of the others; Ponyta seems friendly enough, but perhaps a little too shy around people like... well, myself. Then again..." He squatted down, and looked at all five of them. "*I'm a new trainer,*" he said in Pokespeech, "*I'd like one of you to accompany me on the journey I'll undertake. Just take a step forwards if you want to come with me.*"
Pine smiled when Av broke out into laughter and he bent down to fluff the fur between Numel's ears, then straightened up again, leaning back against the wall to watch with curiosity as the Salamence 'morph spoke to the Pokemon in Pokespeech. Telepa nodded approvingly as she listened to his words--it was good that he asked the Pokemon's opinion. Flarepup immediately perked up, and wagged its long tail once. "I'd love to test my abilities on a journey!" He whipped his tail again with anticipation. Meanwhile, Ponyta seemed to consider, then it nodded. "I would be willing to go...on a journey with you, as well, Sir Pokemorph." Torkoal seemed to think about it slowly, then snorted. After a while, it turned away and coughed. "I believe I prefer the lab more." Numel rolled around, blinking its eyes and shaking the tuft on hair on its head. Finally it looked up, giving Av a glance-over and lazy nod before settling back down into the sunlight. Houndour continued to growl under its breath, slivers of white teeth showing.

Guest_Kaelyn: Orr.... just a new skin and stuff? It looks great, though, guys.
Jan 27, 2014 13:18:28 GMT -5
Guest_Kaelyn: Ok... I googled Enera cause I was on my work computer and came up with this. 0.o Did the site move, Birdy? Also, I am so sorry for the long absence. I hope you'll forgive me? What's been happening?
Jan 27, 2014 13:17:44 GMT -5
Rin: Alright, I will then It'll probably take me a couple days.
Dec 29, 2013 22:30:39 GMT -5
Birdybot: Yeah, go ahead ^_^
Dec 29, 2013 5:25:01 GMT -5
Rin: Cool beans, I made an account there. Should I just transfer all my PC stuff and character data / route stuff over?
Dec 28, 2013 22:35:53 GMT -5
Birdybot: All right! I've worked on a few templates and planned everything out, so now I've created the new forum! enerarpg.proboards.com/
Dec 23, 2013 7:51:22 GMT -5
Rin: I do like the visiting towns idea - that way players could get to plot more easily and characters could meet up, which would be cool to see more of
Dec 23, 2013 3:02:40 GMT -5
Birdybot: I think to make it easier for characters to meet, any town can be visited at any time (by train etc), but the gyms will still have to be done in order. Also I was thinking of letting people buy apartments/houses in any town if they want
Dec 17, 2013 18:27:24 GMT -5
Birdybot: Yeah, characters would be transferred over. It's a big change, but I think big changes are needed to revive this site and moving is the cleanest way to do that
Dec 17, 2013 18:24:19 GMT -5
Rin: Whoa, that's a pretty big change Would we be allowed to carry over characters? I'd like to keep Ajax at his current progress if possible...I do agree about the fakedex thing though, that's pretty outdated at this point, and people can always resubmit.
Dec 17, 2013 17:34:15 GMT -5
Birdybot: Yeah anyway so over this weekend I'll get a new site set up with new everything and it'll maybe look OK but no promises
