Roleplaying Rules
- No godmodding. Godmodding is when someone seizes control over another character without permission. The only people and Pokemon you can control on Enera are your own characters, their Pokemon and anything a mod has said you can control. Try not to make wild Pokemon appear for you, that's the mod's job. I suppose the most common place to find godmodding is in battle. You can only control what moves your Pokemon uses and whether your Pokemon is hit. A mod will decide if an attack used by you hits or not.
- PG-13 at most. Please be aware that some members of this site may be young or sensitive, and it isn't very nice to have a load of inappropriate stuff whirling around. This means no porn or sexual content, no extreme violence and no excessive swearing (you can swear, just try not to make it every other word). Of course, Pokemon battles are violent, but by extreme violence I mean people killing or mutilating, especially vivid descriptions of it. If you absolutely must go into gory descriptions, please at least post a warning!
- Don't be a dick. If you think they're struggling to roleplay, help them improve rather than saying they're stupid at something. Keep in mind that although you just see a username, it's a real person out there somewhere and they could feel really hurt. Racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. are not tolerated and could result in a ban. We want everyone to feel welcome here.
- Plagiarism is not tolerated. Be this ideas, posts, characters, 'dex Pokémon, anything! I can't begin at how important this is. People have worked hard at their posts and characters and so on, so nothing gives you the right to just take it away from them. Be this cross-site or internal, if anyone steals someone will find out at some point and there will be consequences.
Roleplaying Rules
- Any standard of literacy. Surely not? Well, yes, I let complete beginners roleplay here if they want. We all have to start somewhere, and hopefully RPing here will improve anyone's writing ability, be they new or experienced. There's a board specially for improving if you want that, so if you're struggling rather than just continuing to type bad posts go there and get some help. I prefer semi-literate and above, and hope that even beginners can achieve a good standard of roleplaying with time.
- Aim for 90 words per post. This is NOT a rule, just a goal. Let me tell you, 90 words is an awful lot less that it sounds. About a paragraph size, that's all. Even if you're out of muse or new, it's good to have something to aim for to try and stretch yourself, and there is a word counter at the bottom right of every quick reply or reply box so you can keep track of how much you've written. Hopefully everyone will be relatively consistently writing more than 90 words per in character post.
- No textspeak. You know what this is. Things like 'brb', 'omg' and 'u' are fine in the cbox, but when posting in character, use full sentences and proper words. It's fine if your character is texting to someone or literally says 'omg', but I'd much rather see sentences like 'He walked over to you at the bus stop' than 'He walked 2 u @ bus stop'.
- Grammar and spelling. Some browsers have an inbuilt spell-check, so use it! If not, you can try and copy/paste a post into a Word document to check for mistakes, or at least take care and read through what you've written. The odd typo or mistake are fine, we can't expect anyone to be perfect. It can be understood if you're new to writing, have some difficulties (an off day, tiredness, dyslexia, etc) or if English isn't your first language, of course. That said, if you use the wrong form of 'their' or 'your' or put an apostrophe in the wrong place, and you will be fed to our pet Suicune (just kidding, you'll probably just be silently judged).
- Just say if you're having writer's block. Don't randomly make threads inactive. It's not too nice for us, since it makes us all confused. Plus someone might get annoyed if you're suddenly for no reason posting mini sized posts, and I'd hate for there to be needless arguments. So let us know if something's wrong and will upset your posting! This goes for writer's block, being busy or just general life stuff. If you've had a bad day and don't feel like posting, that's fine. Don't feel like you can't talk to us about any problems, though, most people are pretty nice.
