Shira and Rin stood at the start of route one, Looking down the long grassed route. “We should get to know our new friend before we go out there” Rin said. Shira nodded “Your right. We need to get to know her before we go out there, See if we can get her to trust us.” The raichu morph fingered the pokeball which hung on her belt. First position, the place which had so long belonged to Riya… Nodding sharply she pulled it off its space on the leather, the pad of her index finger pressing the button on the front to enlarge it. Another click and the expected beam of red light burst forth form the pokeball, solidifying into a small Pylenti.
The pylenti shook herself and then opened her bright red eyes. The moment she saw Shira and Rin she squeaked and dashed behind a tree. It was a scraggly thing, little better than a bush and it didn’t really provide anything in the way of protection, but the Pylenti hid behind it anyway. Shira sighed as she looked at the shivering feline. The raichu morph took two slow steps toward the tree and then crouched down, tail waving slowly from side to side, helping her keep her balance as well as being a common piece of body langue to say that the owner of said tail meant no harm. “Rin” She hissed at the luxary daemon “Lye down. Your too big.” The luxray huffed softly but lay down, belly pressed against the ground as she attempted to look less threatening.
“Come out little one” Shira called softly “I’m not going to hurt you.” The pylenti peered around the tree and hissed softly at her new trainer. “Now there’s no need for that” Shira’s voice was still soft and gentle “Please come out. I just want to talk” The pylenti fixed the raichu morph with a suspicious look but took one careful step out from behind the tree. “See. That wasn’t so bad” Shira encouraged the little pokemon. The pylenti took another careful step away from the tree, glancing fearfully between it and the trainer.
“Look I think I know what part of the problem is. I bet you think I picked you just cause you’re a different colour right?” The pylenti nodded silently “Well that’s not true. I picked you because you remind me of two of my best friends. Riya and Aiko were a lot like you when I first met them, and even now they’re still a lot like you. But their also two of the greatest people I know. Those other pokemon back there, they’ll be fine with anyone who picked them, but you... you need someone to be your friend, someone who’ll love you and care for you no matter what. Someone who can help you become your very best. And that someone is me. I want to be your friend, I want to look after you and help you become stronger and learn to overcome your fears and become the pokemon I know is inside. Now I’m not gonna lie, I’m a trainer, there will be battles, but I’m never going to force you to fight. If you don’t want to be part of a fight, I’m not going to make you”
The pylenti watched Shira and Rin closely as the young woman spoke, ears flicking this way at that. When the woman paused, the pylenti slowly took another step forward. Shira offered the young pokemon a gentle smile “I’m not the easiest person to get along with, but I’ll look after you and Rin will look after us both. She’s good at that” The luxray daemon nodded her agreement. The pylenti took another step towards them, now close enough to lock its red eyes with Shira’s brown.
For several long moments the two simply stared at each other. Then the pylenti said softly ~Alright~ Shira smiled and slowly held out a hand to the little pokemon “My name is Shira. My Daemon is Rin.” The pylenti sniffed Shira’s hand and then looked back up at her. Very slowly Shira moved her hand until it was resting on the Pylenti’s head. The little pokemon startled, but didn’t run like SHira had half expected her to. “We need a name for you… What do you think of Auva?” The Pylenti tilted her head as she thought and then slowly nodded her acceptance of the name. “You don’t talk much do you” Shira observed, the newly named Auva shook her head.
“Alright… Auva…” Shira exchanged a slightly worried look with Rin and then looked back down at the little pokemon standing before her “Auva… Would you like to do some training before we go onto route one?” The pokemon nodded slowly. “Shira smiled and rubbed the pylenti’s ears, hopeing that the physical signs of affection and approval would help to reinforce that her currnet behaviour was a good one.
“Alright, We’ll start nice and easy” Shira carefully pulled her hand away , setting it on the ground beside her to keep herself steady “Let’s go with a Leer attack” Auva took a step back and then levelled her attack at her trainer. The pylenti’s red eyes narrowed and glowed with an eerie light as she fixed the raichu morph with the harsh look. Shira unconsciously shivered at the malice her new pokemon was able to bring to bare. That look… really was rather impressive.
Auva stepped back again, the glow in her eyes dieing out as she watched the person who was now her trainer. “Well Done Auva” Shira let her pleasure in seeing the Pylenti’s attack colour her voice “That was excellent.” She smiled “Now, Want to try Growl?” Auva didn’t bother nodding, instead she started up the low feral sounds of a growl attack. It echoed in Shira’s ears, sending shivers down her spine. That sound was enough to send a shiver down anyone’s spine, but Shira was part Raichu, a mouse like species, while Auva was a pylenti and while she was a great deal smaller than Shira was, the sounds she produced still reached deep within Shira’s consciousness and flipped the little instinctual switch which was labelled ‘Danger’.
“Ok” Shira was forced to speak up and cut off the pylenti’s growl. “You’re doing really, really well Auva. How about scratch now?... hmmm…” Shira went looking for a decent sized branch. Finding one she pulled it back to where Auva and Rin were. The two felines were staring at each other when she got back and the raichu morph sighed and scratched behind one of her ears. “Auva?” She called softly. The pylenti squeeked and spun to face her. “Relax Auva. It’s just me” Shira reassured the little pokemon, who only relaxed slightly when she saw who it was.
“Ok, Use scratch on the branch” Shira told the little pokemon. Auva gave the trainer a blank look. Shira sighed. She held up a hand and wriggled her fingers, showing the pylenti the short calws which sprouted where a human’s nails would be. “Here, you do it like this” Locking her fingers, she executed a sharp downward movement over the tree branch, leaving several makrs in her wake “You see?” Auva nodded slowly “Alright. Now you try” The little feline Wriggled her paw, letting her claws slide from their sheathes. Moveing in a similar manner to way Shira had showed her, The pylenti sliced her claws along the tree branch, leaving a series of deep scratches in the bark. “Go again?” Shira suggested. Auva did it a second time, and then a third.
“Now, You know how to use Flamewheel right?” Auva nodded. “Alright, Try that against the branch” The little pokemon nodded and the flames which danced over her head and back suddenly flared up, her body becoming surrounded by fire. The little pokemon glanced at Shira and Rin again, Beofre charging the tree. The pylenti tore straight through the leafy end of the tree, setting a fair bit of it on fire, dashed straight through the trunk and out the other side only to turn and leap atop the branch. Shira quickly kicked dirt over the burning leaves, putting them out. Then she gave Auva a very large smile “Well colour me very impressed. That was awesomely done Auva” The pylenti mewled softly, a sound with no meaning attached to become words.
Shira watched the pylenti closely as she said “Alright. I think that’s enough practise for now. We should ehad out onto the route now… Auva, do you want to walk with us or go back into you pokeball?” The pylenti tilted her head as she considered this offer. Her pokeball was safer, much safer, but if she stayed out, she would see more of this trainer and Daemon, get a better idea of what exactly was happening and see if the trainer really had been serious about what she’d said earlier. Finally Auva shook her head and moved the stand beside Rin as the luxray slowly stood up. The little fire/ghost type was dwarfed by the electric type Daemon, but that had been part of the idea, People and other pokemon were far more likely to notice the Luxray than they were her.
“Alright. Out of the ball it is” Shira assumed that that was what the little pokemon was getting at. Turning the Young woman took her first step onto route one, Rin at her side and Auva hiding by the luxaray Daemon’s back legs.
