Evolution
Moves
Breeding
Training
- Leveling up. When a Pokémon reaches the level at which it evolves, go ahead and write about it evolving. That's all there is to it. You don't have to make it evolve if you don't want to, and you can wait and let it evolve at a higher level if there's a move you want the Pokémon to learn,
- Items. Again, this works the same as in the games. Just give the Pokémon the item, and it will evolve. The item will be useless afterwards, though.
- Happiness. Pokémon needing Happiness will evolve with a Heart Scale, since we don't have any way of measuring a Pokémon's happiness here.
- Location. Pokémon which need locations will evolve with a Star Piece since those locations are outside the Enera region. These Pokémon are Nosepass and Mangneton.
- Trading. Pokémon that need to be traded holding an item to evolve will still need to be holding that item, which will be unusable afterwards. Members can trade Pokémon between each other or NPCs, so if your character makes friends with another character, they'll probably be willing to help them out and trade then trade back the Pokémon they want to evolve through the trade.
- Moves. Once a Pokémon has learned a move it needs to evolve, it will evolve straight away with no need to level it up again if you want it to. As with level-based evolution, you can choose to hold it off if you want.
- Time. For evolutions that can only happen at a certain time of day, day or night, simply write about time going by so that it is the right time for the Pokémon to evolve. If a Pokémon meets non-item related conditions, say learning a move or leveling up, to evolve but at the wrong time of day, when it reaches the right time of day they will evolve if you wan them to.
- Eevee. Eevee evolve the same for Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon, but to be an Umbreon they need a Moon Stone, Espeon needs a Sun Stone, Leafeon needs a Leaf Stone and Glaceon needs a Shiny Stone.
- Tyrogue. Since we don't have stats which grow here, what Tyrogue evolves into can't be determined. Instead, when a Tyrogue hits level 20, they can choose to evolve into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan or Hitmontop if they want.
- Wurmple. Wurmple is a Pokémon which usually evolves randomly into either Cascoon or Silcoon. Here, the Wurmple chooses which one they want to evolve into when it reaches the right level.
- Mantyke. Mantyke will evolve if it levels up while near a Remoraid, not just if there is one in their trainer's party. This Remoraid can belong to another trainer or even just be passing by.
- Nincada. When a Nincada evolves into Ninjask, it will shed its shell which will become a Shedinja. This will not automatically join the trainer's party, essentially being a wild Pokémon, but they are often easily persuaded to join.
- Shelmet and Karrablast. It's a bit tricky to ask people to try and find a Shelmet/Karrablast to trade with, so instead Shelmet and Karrablast will evolve from a trade with any other Pokémon.
Moves
- Egg Moves. You cannot give your Pokémon an egg move yourself. Finding a Pokémon with an egg move in the wild is unlikely, so could mods please limit the number of egg moves they dish out. Only one egg move is able to be had by any Pokémon. All Pokémon from the labs have an egg move of the trainer's choice. When breeding a Pokémon, they hatch with a random egg move.
- Limits. There is no limit to the amount of moves your Pokémon can know. Hooray! There are limits regarding TM/HM/move tutor/etc. moves. To prevent a trainer running around with a bunch of level 5 Pokémon that all know ridiculously powerful moves, the base power of these moves is restricted depending on how many badges/ribbons/medals a person has. None allows moves with up to a base power of 50 to be taught. One allows up to base power 60. Two allows 70, three 75, four 80, five 85, six 90, seven 100, and eight allows for any move a Pokémon can learn to be taught to it.
- Pokémon with no offensive moves. If your Pokémon does not know any offensive moves at the level they are on, for example a Hoppip or Ralts at low levels, then they will usually be allowed to learn their first offensive move early. Sometimes they might have an egg move to make up for this for example by an egg move, in which case there is no need to let it know the first offensive move early. If your Pokémon has neither of these, let me know and I'll sort it out.
- Forgetting moves. If you do not want your Pokémon to know a move, move deleting services are offered in most towns and cities in Enera.
- Learning missed moves. A Pokémon might miss out on a move if it evolves at a level past the level at which its evolved form would normally learn a move (for example Scizor learn Bullet Punch at level one, but it you evolve a Scyther into a Scizor past level one it will have missed out on Bullet Punch), you can find a move relearner in most towns and cities in Enera.
Breeding
- Eggs. Every time a Pokémon couple breed, they have a chance of producing between 2 to 6 eggs. The number will be determined randomly, with a six-sided die. If a 1 is rolled, the mod will just roll again.
- Hatching time. Most eggs will take exactly one month of real time to hatch, although eggs that will hatch into Rare or Ultra Rare Pokémon will take one week longer. They won't hatch if they're in a storage system, but don't take up a party slot anyway.
- Breeding two shinies. The shiny gene is a recessive gene, so it is quite possible for two shiny parents to produce a normally coloured baby. There is an increased chance of having a shiny, though; now it is 25%. To see if an egg will become a shiny, the mod will pick a number then use a random generator to generate a number between one and four. If the number it comes up with is the same as the one they picked earlier, the Pokémon will be a shiny.
- Breeding one shiny and one normal Pokémon. When breeding a shiny Pokémon with a normal Pokémon, there is still an increased chance of having a shiny baby. There is a 10% chance of having a shiny this way, and the mod shall choose a number between one and ten then randomly generate a number between one and ten. If the numbers match, then the baby will be a shiny.
- Egg moves. When you breed a Pokémon, the offspring always have an egg move. This egg move is not of choice, it will be randomly selected by a mod.
- Wait before breeding again. The same Pokémon can only breed once every two months, provided all eggs produced by him or her that are in the breeder's possession have hatched. I'm sure the Pokémon won't want to have too many babies at once, after all.
Training
- Battles. Pokémon can be trained up by battling wild Pokémon or other trainers. For more details on how battles work here, see the battling rules thread in this board.
- Training Centre. There is a Training Centre in the Extra Areas, which can be accessed at any time. There is no limit to how often you can train there, and you can either battle NPCs and other characters, write a freeform post or take one of the posting challenges.
- Rare Candies. Items that level up a Pokémon still work here, too!
- Events. Sometimes, levels may be earned by participating in events, even out of character events.
