~Katie;;[/b]
Name: Kaitlyn Raleka
Preferred Nickname: Katie
Age: Twelve
Gender: Female
Career: Breeder
Pokémorph: N/A
Appearance: Kaitlyn is a bit short for her age, about four foot eight. She inherited most of her mother's traits, including her heart-shaped face. Katie's head itself is rather small, much to her distaste. Her chin comes to a narrow point, giving her her most unfavorable less than perfect teeth. Unfortunately, she was never able to get through to the braces stage. However, she has a rather charming smile, when she smiles that is. Her teeth have a sort of glow to them and the smile reaches to her small, diamond-shaped eyes. Katie's eyes are the only attribute she inherited from her father. They are a hazel shade; brown with only a tint of green. When the sun is up, her eyes reflect the light at a perfect angle, showing the green. When it becomes darker, her eyes turn back to their chocolate color, the green almost invisible. Katie has semi-high cheekbones, but they are hidden underneath the average pre-adolescense slight cheek chubbiness. Kaitlyn has numerous freckles that appear as if paint was sprinkled across her nose and cheeks. Otherwise, she is unnaturally pale. Her ears are a bit on the small side, but stick out much to Katie's dislike.
Kaitlyn's hair is wavy and usually appears to be messy. It reaches down to the middle of her spine with a slight curl at the end. She has light chocolate brown hair, but unfortunately has numerous split ends. When she is in the sun for a long time, like during her journey, her natural highlights come out. Katie's highlights range from gray to blonde to dark brown. Also, the ends of her hair turn golden blonde when exposed to sunlight. Katie usually wears her hair straight down, but will put it up in a ponytail when running or during other times. She almost always keeps her bangs brushed to the side, as they not-so-conveniently fall right in front of her eyes. However, you can always see a few strands of persistand hairs hanging down across her face, and along her small nose.
On Katie's ears are small sapphire earrings. Her mother gave them to her along with her pierced ears at a young age. She can hardly remember the last time she took them off. On Katie's right wrist are three beaded bracelets. They are all shades of colors, ranging from darkest to lightest on a red string, the ends tied into a bow. Each bracelet is a different color; one purple, one blue, and one turquoise. Another piece of jewelery she refuses to take off is her necklace. Katie's necklace has been passed down to the eldest daughter from her ancestors from many past generations. It is a short silver chain, hanging on it a key. The key was small, only about an inch long. It was a dull silver, with a crown on the top, where the chain was looped through. The crown contained three small saphire shards that shone brightly, all throughout its long history. The end of the key had three spikes, ranging from large to small, the smallest at the end. The key falls right underneath her throat, where her collar bone connects in the middle. The key has a surprising chill to the touch. When Katie obtained the necklace at a young age, her mother told her that by laying on one of the most vulnerable spots, it is a symbol of protection and carries the essence of her anscestors when she is in a tight situation. The only other information Katie has about the key is that it was first used as a key to a diary in the 1600s. However, the diary only lasted another century before disappearing. This necklace is one of Katie's most prized possesions.
Kaitlyn clothes are nothing fancy, just something that she wouldn't mind wearing for a while. She wears a tight short-sleeved light blue shirt that reaches just beneath her hip. A bit above the center of the top is a heart with a dark blue lining. On the back of her shirt, around the place the heart was on the front, is a pair of white, feathered wings, the tips reaching up to her shoulders. Katie wore flare jeans, that ended just at the cuff of her white sneakers. She wore a blue scarf as a belt, the end hanging to mid-thigh. She also carries around an average school backpack, holding a navy blue sweater for the colder days.
Personality: Kaitlyn used to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loved to help out others. She was curious, and wasn't afraid to ask anything. She would never let a friend feel lonely without even trying to help. Katie loved company, even when others didn't love hers. She usually got along with the people in her town, especially the adults. Katie would do chores for others without pay, as she didn't attend school.
Since Katie wasn't afraid to ask questions, she gained much knowledge. It was a surprise to anyone to learn that she had not attended school. She loved puzzles and anything that got the gears in her brain to move. She would help some of the younger children who attended the small school of her town with their work. However, because of this, Katie didn't have any friends of her own age.
However, after "The Incident" Katie completely changed. It was like she was an entirely new person. She was reclusive and shy, and barely even talked anymore. She didn't go out of her way to help other people or even the young children. She didn't show off her skills as much, and mostly stayed in the house. However, she eventually was able to open up enough to the world to go out on her own as a breeder.
History: Kaitlyn was born as an only child on a small, reclusive island. It was home to many Pokemon from all different regions, which was why it was a popular tourist spot for Pokemon trainers and collecters. However, the inhabitants themselves were not strong believers of training Pokemon. Nonetheless, there was a popular daycare center in the middle of the island. Katie was born to a single mother. Her father had gotten ill and passed away only half way into her mother's pregnancy. Katie wished she knew her father, but that is all she thinks of him. All that she was told of him was that he was a hardworking man who traveled across the globe.
Katie grew up volunteering at the Daycare Center. Ever since she first set eyes on that building, she knew that she wanted to be a breeder. She spent her days caring for the Pokemon at the center, and the eggs that seemed to show up more and more often. Every time she handed an egg to a trainer, or saw an egg hatch, she got this glowing feeling inside of her. Seeing old and new life, Pokemon finding friends and their true love, it was awe inspiring. She knew that no matter what, this is how she would spend her life.
One day, when she was six years old, Katie came to the Daycare Center to find it unusually quite. "Huh?" She ran outside to the Pokemon, but they also seemed to be under the spell. They almost appeared to be sulking. Katie blinked her eyes in confusion. She had never seen the Pokemon act so oddly before. What could be possibly going on? Katie ran inside, and found a door to a room open. She and her daemon sneaked to the door, peering through the crack. The Daycare Man was inside, laying in his bed, his wife by his side. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. Next to him was his daemon, a Togetic. However, she appeared to be stiff and ill. The wife's daemon, also a Togetic, jumped onto the bed. The couple and the daemons held hands, sharing their silent goodbyes. Kaitlyn slowly closed the door, looking at her own daemon, now in Vulpix form. ~Katie...Let's head back home.~ Katie, however, was in shock. She walked back home in a daze, not fully comprehending what had occured.
"Mommy!' Kaitlyn ran into her mother's arms, wiping her tears fiercely with her arms. Her mother stroked her hair as Katie told her story. Her mother stifled a gasp, blinking back tears. Yes, the Daycare Man was elderly now, but he should've had a few more years left on him. Her mother lowered her head. "Katie, darling, Mr. Kayr(Whoot for not being original!)is perfectly safe. He is okay, but you just won't see him as often. Tell Mrs. Kayr that I'm sorry he had to...move away, and that I will come visit her later. Okay, can you do that for me? You're a brave girl, I'm sorry you had to see that." Her mother pulled Kaitlyn onto her lap, rocking her. Just like your father, that man. He will be remembered for a long time. Katie soon fell asleep. Her mother picked her up, and tucked her into her bed. "Sleep tight little one. Your life will forever change after this."
Katie awoke the next morning, her memories completely blank of the previous day's events. She charged in through the door with a smile on her face. After a moment's silence, the smile faded. Suddenly, she remembered yesterday's tragedy. "Mrs. Kayr!" she yelled. The Daycare Lady hobbled over, looking twice as old. Katie furrowed her eyebrows, trying to remember what her mother told her. "Um, Mommy told me to tell you that she's sorry, uh, Mr. Kayr had to move and leave the center to you. She said, umm, that she'll come over and help with the, um, moving. Yeah, that's it!"
The Daycare Lady lowered her head, causing Kaitlyn to tilt hers in confusion. What had she done. Mrs. Kayr stroked her hands through Katie's hair, saying "You are a big girl now. You can take care of the Pokemon for now, right?" And so, for the next month, Katie took care of the Pokemon, closely watched over by the Daycare Lady. Soon, Kaitlyn was left in charge of the Pokemon by herself, while Mrs. Kayr made deals with trainers and took care of the financial business like she used to. It continued like this for four years, until "The Incident" occured.
Kaitlyn was ten years old and heading home after a hard day's work. Some Pokemon had gotten loose, and it was her job to chase them down. She collapsed on her bed fully dressed and soon asleep. Her daemon crawled on top of her stomach in Rattata form. Soon hours passed, until- ~KATIE! Get up!~
"Huh...wha?" Katie rubbed her eyes, yet still falling back asleep. A distant sound snapped her to attention. With one look at her daemon, they both knew that they had to check out what was going on. They rushed out the door, her daemon turning into a Hoothoot for the needed nightvision. He pointed to the north, an odd glint in his eyes. Katie nodded, the two of them running off once more.
"Aw, adorable!~" In front of them was a litter of newly-hatched Poochyena. There were four of them, but the mother was nowhere to be found. Perhaps she's getting food for them. Katie pondered this, and decided it was best to wait for the mother to return.
However, something was preventing that. A roar broke through the silence, piercing at the wam breeze. A tall shadow emerged from the trees, its eyes set on the Poochyena. The Ursaring let out one more roar before slashing at the puppies. "NO!" Katie dashed forward, only to be swatted aside by the massive bear Pokemon. Her daemon transformed into a Teddiursa, hoping to appeal to the giant Pokemon, seeing as fighting wasn't an option. Unfortunately, Katie's daemon was also slashed, sending a sharp pain throughout her body.
Another shadow appeared out of nowhere and pummeled into the Ursaring. Katie opened her eyes slowly. A Mightyena! It was the mother! The Mightyena growled fiercely, then glanced at her children before running off to battle again. ~She says to take her pups and go, Katie. We must believe that she can handle this herself.~
Katie nodded and the two of them herded the babies to a sheltered bush. She was panting, her heartbeat telling her every terrifying moment that was passing. So many questions floated through her head, but one kept coming back. What was going to happen to them? Katie closed her eyes, then reopened them to look at her arm. It was covered in blood. The slash of a claw did more damage then she had thought.
A roar broke through the air. That must be their cue. Katie rushed to where the battle had took place, the Poochyena following. She stopped in her tracks, eyes widened in fear. Both Pokemon were on the ground; limp and lifeless. The Mightyena had sacrificed herself so her children could survive. Katie's hands balled up into a fist. If it weren't for that stupid bear, this loving mother would still be alive. These Poochyena were probably orphans now. They were alone in this world. And that moment change Katie's life forever, as well as her daemon's, who never seemed to change from a Teddiursa since.
Katie and her daemon herded the Poochyena to the Daycare Center, where she spent the rest of the night with them. She used two full years to raise the Poochyena, one of which evolved. She looked exactly like her mother. Mrs. Kayr walked up to Katie, putting a hand around her shoulder. "I heard you're moving. Well, you've done a great job here, and I'm sad to see you go. Hopefully I can find another volunteer with the skills you have. Thank you. As for these Poochyena, it's time to release them to the wild." Katie didn't respond, as per usual nowadays. Mrs. Kayr opened the gate that led into the Pokemon's space for the Daycare. The Mightyena walked up to Katie and placed her head on her hand. She then looked into her eyes, then raced off with the other Poochyena.
Before she knew it, Katie was on a boat to Enera. Her mother turned around and told her, "Katie, I don't care whether you are a breeder or a trainer, you need to get out and explore this new region. You can't keep sulking like this. It's ridiculous. Katie lowered her head with a small nod. And this is what brings us to present day.
Name: Ezyl
Form (if settled): Not Settled
Favourite Forms (if not settled): Rattata, Vulpix, and Hoothoot, but hasn't changed from Teddiursa since the Incident.
Appearance: Ezyl mostly looks like a normal Pokemon, except for a few distinguishing features. He always is furrier (or more feathery) than a normal Pokemon, and on his forehead is always the crescent moon of the Teddiursa.
Personality: In the beginning, Ezyl was like Katie. Intelligent, helpful, and all of those good traits. He loved to help the younger Pokemon, but he was even more adventurous than Katie. He urged her to explore outside of the Daycare, even though he was almost always unsuccessful. It didn't matter much to him even if she refused, as long as he had tried.
After the incident, Ezyl became as shy and withdrawn as Katie. His will almost shattered, and he was, as if to say, stuck in his Teddiursa form. However, he started to get back to his old self after a few years. He kept trying to urge Katie to get out and explore Enera, to learn more about breeding and fulfill her goal. Ezyl has not let her down yet, and was therefore the ultimate reason she set out as a breeder.
