kitty pryde
What she said:
'How come someone hasn't noticed
That I'm dead,
And decided to bury me?
God know I'm ready.'
GENERAL
Name: Katherine 'Kitty' Pryde
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Career: Trainer
APPEARANCE
Perhaps the most striking thing about Kitty is her pale, verging on monotone complexion. Her near-translucent skin is anything but contrasted by her platinum blonde hair and steely grey eyes. Her mother, when she was still alive, would laugh when Kitty grumpily pointed out that she had eyes the colour of a city pavement, touch her cheek and say, 'I would say they were more like a stormy sea." Needless to say, this cheered her up about her boring eye colour immensely.
Kitty isn't the type of girl to take too much pride in her appearance, though her features are not unattractive – just not particularly cared for. She will usually have on mascara, and lip gloss, more often than not, but never anything heavier than that. Her hair, while starting out every morning in a sort of tame state – easy when you have boring medium-length straight blonde hair – but will generally end the day sticking up all over the place due to occasional malicious breezes.
Predictably, she doesn't take much of an interest in her clothing choices, either. She almost always wears black, a strange choice for someone so pale; it's almost as if she wants to draw attention to the fact. A favourite outfit of hers is her tight-fitting black polo-neck partially covered by a small half-length leather jacket, and a long black skirt that gives the impression of rippling around her ankles as she walks. She has a strange, slow, thoughtful walk that gives the impression of someone lost so utterly deep in thought that they have forgotten if they have anywhere specifically they have to be. And Kitty pretty much never has anywhere to be.
PERSONALITY
Her personality is a difficult thing to get a grasp on, as it seems to change dramatically depending on whose company she is in. Around strangers, for example, she comes across as a lost, lonely teenage girl. A slow-moving ghost in a sea of busy, busy people. Blue-grey eyes seem to be set perpetually on the verge of tears when she is unaware that anyone is looking. She is polite, kind and caring to those who do not know her that well, and tends to get on a lot better with adults than most other people her age. She finds other teenagers overly confident and unashamedly testosterone-ridden. Sports and other fast-paced activities in which human contact is not only acceptable but sometimes even encouraged seem to repulse and frighten her, though it is not at all clear why.
Around the select few people she actually knows well, however, she is a completely different person, adopting a bouncy happy-go-lucky attitude and becoming the type of person who seems to enjoy physical contact in the form of hugs and playful shoving. There are very few people who get to see this side to Kitty, though. This seemingly 'better' side to this lonely, thoughtful girl is also her worst side. The Kitty who knows you is the Kitty who has access to all of your deepest fears, worries and regrets. There are times, on occasion, where she has had a goal within her sights and done absolutely everything possible to achieve this goal, even if it wasn't all that attractive. She will manipulate and lie to her closest friends; she would puppeteer situations so that the things she wants roll right into her pale, outstretched hands.
There are very few people who actually like Kitty, but, unfortunately, those who like her tend to like her a lot. She has broken many a heart in her lifetime. Actually, no, that's not strictly true. She has broken two hearts in her lifetime, both of them many times each. Her boyfriend who she left behind in Kanto, and their shared best friend, Matthew, who also stayed behind, have gone through a lot of hardships because of Katherine's flippant indecisiveness and admittedly rather cruel ignorance of consequences.
On a lighter note, Kitty's favourite things are, to name only a few, Pokémon, food, and books. If she could spend the rest of her days curled up on a chair with a book and a cuddly creature on her lap, she would be happy. Though, just between us, this is highly unlikely – could she actually ever be truly happy with an apathetic attitude like hers? She does not like, again to name only a few, pain, loneliness – strange, as her own is largely self-inflicted – and 'stupid people'.
It is a well-known saying that who you are on the battlefield is the real you. Kitty, when battling, is completely ruthless. So much so that she often forgets tactics and goes for all-out offence instead. However, to give her credit, she does care deeply about her Pokémon and feels incredibly guilty whenever she makes a mistake in the heat of battle that causes them to feel pain that they could have avoided.
HISTORY
Having lived her whole life in desert, beach and volcano central: Hoenn, it is a wonder she is still so pale. She knew from a very young age that she didn't fit in with her own friends and family. Her mother was obsessed with fashion, with money, with status, while Kitty just wanted to go for walks in the rain; to climb up mountains with her bare, muddy hands. Her mother died a couple of years ago in a freak helicopter crash (probably best not to ask) along with the parents of a couple of her friends following a lavish holiday with lots of drinking. As a result, Kitty depends on those aforementioned friends a lot more than other teenage girls would, as they have shared such a traumatic experience. They have all in a way taken each other in, and cook and clean for each other. The authorities allow this because most of the people within the household are over eighteen, and qualify rather strangely as the legal guardians for the others.
Her father left her little family when she was around two years old, and her mother refused to speak about him. She, as a result of this lack of a father figure and from a pretty much endless stream of less than pleasant boyfriends of her mother, has developed a natural wariness of the male sex, especially in middle-aged men. She finds it more difficult to trust them than women or boys.
Part of the reason she earned the fond nickname 'freak' from the lovely locals, apart from her stubbornly pale complexion despite the blazing Hoenn sun, and the fact that she lived only with a few teenage boys, was her thirst for adventure. She had real talent for sniffing out potential near-death experience, and while most things still scare the life out of her she does have an endless need for journeying and adventuring that nobody back home seemed to understand.
Kitty would like to become a more interesting, more rounded person, to be concise. She knows that she is usually shy and afraid, but there is something in her, something in her blood that seems to be constantly pushing her in the path of something bigger. All her life she has wanted to be a trainer. To climb those muddy mountains in the rain, or wade through streams to get to greener pastures.
Kitty is not a freak. She's just a little different.~~
tryce
GENERAL
Name: Tryce
Gender: Male
Form (if settled): Eevee
Favourite Forms (if not settled): N/A
Age Settled: Tryce settled a little later than most people's do, around the time of her sixteenth birthday. Kitty was immensely relieved when he did, as it was giving the neighbourhood kids more to tease her about, the fact that her daemon was a 'shifter', and the fact that this meant she was going through some sort of a mental turmoil. Kids can be cruel.
APPEARANCE
Tryce is pretty much normal, if a bit on the small and poofy side. An experienced pokemon breeder or researcher would also be able to tell you that he is a good shade or two paler than any real Eevee.
It has been pointed out before that Tryce has a sort of canine smile on his muzzle that a normal Eevee perhaps would not possess: a slight parting of the lips and a flash of fang; an upturning of the mouth around the corners that makes it look like he is always plotting something, coupled with the slight narrowing of his eyes.
PERSONALITY
Tryce is, of course, much like Kitty in pretty much every way: they share the same likes and dislikes, and will almost always come to the same conclusion when making a decision, but there are differences. He is far more fun-loving where she is careful, and very likely to lead her into the path of danger when she would normally have stayed far away. She does not resent this in the slightest, though, and while she can complain on occasion she secretly does love the fact that he brings adventure into her life.
While he is the happy-go-lucky one of the duo, he will also always make sure that Kitty is safe when the roles are reversed - if he has led her off the beaten path he will sniff around for danger and act somewhat as a lookout with his sensitive nose and ears. They make a good team, it has to be said.
Though some might say that his Eevee form represents Kitty's many different takes on life and personalities. She is a little unpredictable at times, and the fact that her daemon is a pokemon with the potential to be any one of seven forms says a lot about both of them, and does nothing to help her reputation in the town. She has never met anyone else with an Eevee daemon, but many with various Eeveelutions accompanying them. This, she has concluded, is more normal, and she is just strange.
